Marc Breuning led the field to the green flag and never looked back, although a lengthy pitstop evaporated his 12 second lead and gave 2nd placed Bill Smithem another chance at it. Breuning didn’t budge and took the win, with Smithem 2nd and Larry Eaglen 3rd. Which reflected the final championship standings perfectly, as Breuning, Smithem and Eaglen were 1-2-3 in the points as well. Rod Potgieter finished the race in 4th and Phil Peterson rounded out the top 5. Indy winner Andrew Forrester finisehd 5th in the point standings after having been as high as 2nd, he unfortunately missed a few races.
Next season, the 17th already, will start next week at St.Petersburg.

It was Steven Clegg that led the field to the green flag as the pole sitter and he initially took the lead with Breuning, who started quicker than Peterson from the 2nd row, on his tail. The first 12 laps were calm, but then the first and only yellow of the day came out after a net code incident. Breuning pitted as one of the few cars up front and it turned out a helpful move, as the 2nd pitstop (the first for most) was under green. With Breuning needing less fuel than the others, he found himself leading Smithem by 4 seconds. Smithem short fueled but shot himself in the foot as he ran out on the last corner and handed 2nd to Larry Eaglen!

It was George Sandman that led the field to the green flag with Breuning alongside him. Sandman stayed in front chased by the 61 car for 11 laps, when Breuning took advantage of Sandman coming off the Esses a little slower and went around him in the final turn on the outside. Sandman tried again in turn one to grab it back, but Breuning averted that. Slowly but surely he pulled away and won the race, with Sandman 2nd and Bill Smithem 3rd. Don Warren and Larry Eaglen rounded out the top 5.

As expected. Sandman started from to pole and never looked back . Behind him, Breuning and Warren swapped positions twice, both due to spins, but in the end Breuning held on to 2nd. Warren followed in 3rd, with Smithem and Eaglen rounding out the top 5.

George Sandman started from the pole and dominated the Portland race flag to flag, with Breuning only leading one lap because of pitstops. The gaps between the drivers simply grew because no one made major mistakes. Smithem was in 3rd, with Don Warren and Rod Potgieter rounding out the top 4.
