Robert Love was back for the Pocono race and showed his intentions by taking the pole. As always, the racing was close and fierce at the tricky triangle. On lap 27, Love and Day touched, but luckily both could get fixed up and remained on the lead lap. After the restart, the field split somewhat, but with less than ten to go, they bunched up again and it was anybody’s race.
On lap 48, Stuart Wright scraped the wall and couldn’t be avoided by Shinoski, who took a literal ‘leap of faith’. The race finished under yellow with Day ahead, joined on the podium by Rodrigues and Breuning. Love and Wilson rounded out the top 5.
Breuning secured the championship with his 3rd spot, so the final race next week at Laguna Seca will be for bragging rights mostly.
