It was George Sandman that led the field to the green flag, but Taylor Jordan took the lead in turn one and didn’t seem to leave much doubt on where he wanted to be. Sandman followed, stayed close initially, until an incident with a back marker that was a lot slower than he expected ended his pursuit and he called it a race.
Aaron Blackburn took over in the chase with Bill Smithem following him after Breuning had gone off on lap 5. Breuning later had another issue, touching the #16 because of going in too deep in turn 5. He had to claw his way back from 8th, managed to pass several cars, including Phil Peterson on the last lap – who in is own right was having a good day.
So Jordan, Blackburn and Smithem were on the podium, Breuning and Peterson rounded out the top 5 finishers.
