It was George Sandman that led the field to the green flag with Breuning alongside him. Sandman stayed in front chased by the 61 car for 11 laps, when Breuning took advantage of Sandman coming off the Esses a little slower and went around him in the final turn on the outside. Sandman tried again in turn one to grab it back, but Breuning averted that. Slowly but surely he pulled away and won the race, with Sandman 2nd and Bill Smithem 3rd. Don Warren and Larry Eaglen rounded out the top 5.
