Season 3 Schedule

Racers and fans of the Retro CART League: We are already well into Season 2 and I have every intention of continuing the League. Season 3 proposed schedule is here. With no holidays or other reasons to not race, I have extended the schedule to the full 12 races paralel to iRacing 2023 S2 schedule with a NEW venue: The oval of Miami, where CART raced first in 1996. Although back then it was a 4 turn smaller replica of the IMS, the track was updated to its current shape soon after.

Since the schedule would call for an extra oval race, I figured Miami would be a great final oval race for season 3. Other than that, the schedule is largely the same.

FAHEY WINS BY A FEW YARDS!!!

Round 7 in Pocono tonight was a very hard fought race! Breuning started from the pole with Ravon alongside. Ravon took the lead at the drop of the flag and both drivers pulled away from the rest of the field. It seemed it was between them, but yellows bunched the field up again. Darren Fahey, who started in the back of the pack, worked his way forward. In the final stages, Breuning, Ravon, Fahey and Hamelink led the pack. After the last yellow, an epic battled emerged that saw Fahey take the win from Ravon about ten yards from the line! The top three drivers finished within 0.1 of a second, with Breuning rounding out the top 3 and Hamelink finishing a strong 4th.

Podium

  1. Darren Fahey
  2. Rick Ravon
  3. Marc Breuning

Sandman Leads Flag To Flag At Road America

George Sandman started from the pole and led from flag to flag at Road America, round 6 of the Retro CART League’s 2nd season! Johnny Hamby, who was running a strong second all race long, made an attempt to pass him around the outside in turn one, but a slight touch sent him to the gravel trap and he turned his car over. Sandman explained post race that he had a little twitch mid turn which most likely caused them to touch…

Breuning and Ravon both moved up and rounded out the podium.

Hamby Wins At The Milwaukee Mile!

Johnny Hamby took his RCA machine to victory lane at the Milwaukee Mile! It was an exciting race in which Pole sitter Trey Mitts was the first to find out the cars could get a little loose after a bit. First time he actually kept it out of the wall, but the second time he wasn’t so lucky. As was Breuning, who lead the most laps, but while leading lost the car in turn two and couldn’t save it.

Darryl Wineinger put some late race pressure on Hamby but had to settle for 2nd place with Bill Smithem rounding out the podium finishes with a solid 3rd!
